MIA ISLAND, and a few other things

We want to tell you about our adventures on the Indian Ocean.  We started at the port city of Tanga, Tanzania, and took a boat out into the ocean.  But we are having trouble posting pictures or comments to our blog.  So, we are going to post some responses to your fabulous questions here in this new post.  We also include a map to show you where we are traveling in Africa (so far: from Dar to Tanga to Lushoto):

WHAT IT IS LIKE IN AFRICA
Here in Africa its usually pretty hot. Where we are in the mountains, its really green but it can be really dry in other places. There are a lot of different flowers, animals, and style here. Its interesting to see it all.

REGARDING CHICKENS
The chickens at our friend Inno`s chicken farm are mostly cute. I think the baby chicks are the cutest. The 2 year old chickens  lay eggs.  When the chickens get old and cant lay any more eggs, Inno sells those old chickens for meat.

BACK TO MIA ISLAND
This island is named after Mia. All it is is a beach, in the ocean that is usually covered with water. It is really cool. There are LOTS OF CRABS!!!! They make really deep holes.

  1. Dear Mia and Will,
I am so glad you were able to post some information since I have been missing you so much. My phone was not working well which is why I have not called. Dr. Kate and I went to Lake Mburo this weekend- you may remember when we went there a took a boat ride to see the hippos. The nature walk was amazing-- a guide took us for 2 hours out into the savannah and swamp. Since it is the end of the short dry season, the animals come far up from the Lake to find grass and vegetation to eat. We saw lots of zebra, bush buck, waterbuck, wart hogs, impala and eland. The birds are beautiful colors, and I got a nice picture of the crested crane, the Ugandan national bird. Travel safely across the Serengeti and give Santos a hug for me. xxx
